Snow White Caridina Shrimp

Snow White Shrimp are a beautiful and highly sought-after freshwater shrimp known for their pure white colouration and elegant appearance. Their clean, opaque white bodies create a striking contrast against dark substrates, driftwood, and vibrant green plants, making them a standout addition to any shrimp-focused aquarium.

A selectively bred variety of Caridina cantonensis, Snow White Shrimp are closely related to Crystal Red and Crystal Black shrimp but display a completely white body without patterning. They are best suited to aquarists with some shrimp-keeping experience due to their preference for softer, more stable water conditions.

Common Name:

Snow White Shrimp

Scientific Name:

Caridina cantonensis

Colour Variant:

Solid opaque white

  • Higher grade shrimp show a stronger, more uniform white colour

  • Minimal transparency is preferred in higher-quality specimens

Size:

  • Adult size: ~2-2.5cm

Lifespan:

  • Around 1–2 years+ with proper care

Snow White Shrimp Water Parameters

Caridina shrimp are more sensitive to water conditions and should only be kept in well-established, stable aquariums.

  • Temperature: 20–24°C / 68–75°F

  • pH: 5.8–6.8

  • GH: 4–6

  • KH: 0–2

  • TDS: 100–150 ppm

Using active shrimp soil and RO water remineralised with shrimp minerals is often recommended to maintain stable parameters.

Tank Size:

  • Minimum 20 litres, though larger tanks provide greater stability and are recommended for breeding colonies

Behaviour and Temperament:

  • Peaceful and non-aggressive

  • Active grazers and scavengers

  • Best kept in groups

  • Ideal for shrimp-only aquariums or with very small peaceful tankmates

Diet:

  • Omnivorous: algae, biofilm, blanched vegetables, shrimp-specific foods, and occasional protein sources

We feed all of our shrimp in store the Shrimp Pro foods range, all of the shrimp we sell are also fed this and happily take it.

Breeding:

  • Breed in freshwater under suitable conditions

  • Females carry eggs for approximately 3–4 weeks

  • Young hatch as miniature shrimp with no larval stage

Aquascaping & Environment:

  • Thrive in planted aquariums with moss, wood, and plenty of biofilm

  • Mosses such as Java Moss provide ideal shelter for young shrimp

  • Their bright white colour looks especially striking against dark substrates and aquascaping materials

Delivery & Customer Responsibility

Please read before ordering.

1. Suitable Tank Conditions
It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure that their aquarium is fully cycled and that water parameters are suitable for the species purchased before placing an order.

We cannot accept liability for losses resulting from unsuitable tank conditions, incorrect water parameters, or improper acclimation. Shrimp are sensitive invertebrates and require stable, appropriate environments to thrive.

2. Dispatch & Delivery Schedule
All shrimp and snails are dispatched on Mondays only for Tuesday delivery (pre-1pm service) to minimise time in transit.

Please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery. Prompt acceptance of live animals significantly improves survival rates and reduces stress.

We cannot accept responsibility for delays, missed deliveries, or losses where no one is available to receive the parcel on the scheduled delivery day.

Orders placed after 11am on a Monday will be dispatched the following Monday.

3. Tracking Information
Tracking numbers are not issued automatically.

If required, tracking details can be requested by phone or email after 1pm on Monday, once shipments have been processed and collected.

4. Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy
In the rare event of a shrimp or snail arriving deceased, this must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

Clear photographic evidence must be provided showing the deceased livestock inside the original, unopened bag. This is required for us to assess and process any claim.

Reports made after 24 hours, or without photographic proof in the unopened bag, cannot be considered.
