Akadama Soil
Premium Clay Substrate for Terrariums
Enhance your terrarium’s environment with Akadama Soil, a natural, porous clay substrate designed to support healthy plant growth. Its unique structure improves drainage and aeration, promotes strong root development, and helps maintain stable humidity, creating the ideal foundation for tropical plants, ferns, and mosses.
Perfect for terrarium enthusiasts, this premium substrate provides both functional benefits and a natural, aesthetic appeal, making it easy to cultivate lush, thriving miniature landscapes.
Create the Perfect Terrarium Environment
For optimal plant health, layer your terrarium substrates strategically: start with lava rock at the bottom to provide excellent drainage and aeration, preventing waterlogging. Next, add a layer of Akadama Soil to support healthy root growth, maintain stable humidity, and retain some essential nutrients. Finally, top with a nutrient-rich soil layer to feed your plants and encourage lush, thriving growth. This layered approach mimics natural conditions and ensures a balanced, healthy ecosystem in your terrarium.
That’s a smart move — clear guidance builds trust and avoids problems later 👍
Here’s a clean, customer-friendly paragraph you can drop straight into the product description. It answers the shrimp question honestly while steering people toward active substrates without sounding salesy.
Use With Shrimp (Important Information)
Akadama can be used in shrimp aquariums in limited situations, but it is not an active shrimp substrate. While its natural clay structure may slightly soften water and reduce KH over time, it does not reliably control pH or maintain the stable, acidic conditions required by most Caridina shrimp.
For this reason, Akadama is not recommended as a sole substrate for shrimp, especially Caridina species (Bee, Taiwan Bee, Panda, etc.). For consistent results, long-term stability, and healthy shrimp, we strongly recommend using a dedicated active shrimp soil designed to buffer pH and KH correctly.
Akadama is best suited to terrariums, vivariums, and layered substrates, or as a base layer beneath aquasoil rather than a primary shrimp substrate.
