Contemporary Style Aquascape
Contemporary Style Aquascape

The aquascape is housed in an ADA 60P and showcases a complete ADA system, including ADA glassware, a Super Jet 600 filter, an Aquasky RGB light, an ADA Vuppa II surface skimmer, and a sleek metal cabinet. It stands as one of the more high-end displays in our gallery, highlighting the exceptional design and craftsmanship that ADA systems are renowned for.
The Aquascape
This striking aquascape was created by Nicole, co-owner of Horizon Aquatics, and it stands out as one of the most unique works in the gallery. Unlike the more traditional styles often on display, this layout has a contemporary, almost futuristic vibe that feels worlds apart. Many visitors have described it as “otherworldly” or “like something from another planet,” thanks to its ethereal atmosphere and bold design.
Built from angular pieces of Dragon Wood and black lava rock, the hardscape creates the illusion of fragmented structures, as if the tank itself is housing shards of a broken landscape. The sharp lines and angled positioning of the wood give the layout a sense of movement and tension, while the interplay of light and shadow adds depth and drama. The result is a scape that feels modern, mysterious, and captivating—an aquascape that pushes beyond the ordinary and leaves a lasting impression.

Plant Changes
We’ve recently updated some of the planting since the release of the build video. The scape now features Eleocharis vivipara in the background and Monte Carlo in the foreground as well as some red root floaters. This change came after we began to experience some stubborn hair algae that started to affect the health of the original plants. As the tank was already fairly old, we weren’t ready to strip it down completely, so instead we refreshed it with new plants to give the aquascape a fresh look and a new lease of life.
