Green Rili Shrimp Neocaridina

Green Rili Shrimp are a striking selectively bred variety of Neocaridina davidi, featuring the characteristic "Rili" pattern of transparent sections combined with vibrant green colouration. Their unique markings make every shrimp slightly different, with shades ranging from translucent emerald green to deeper mossy tones.

Hardy, active and easy to care for, Green Rili Shrimp are an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced shrimp keepers. They spend their day grazing on algae, biofilm and organic matter, making them a valuable addition to planted aquariums while adding plenty of colour and movement.

Common Name:

Green Rili Shrimp

Scientific Name:

Neocaridina davidi

Colour Variant:

  • Bright green to deep emerald green colouration

  • Distinctive Rili pattern with transparent mid-sections

  • Every shrimp has unique markings and colour intensity

  • Colour develops further as shrimp mature and under good aquarium conditions

Size:

Adult size: ~2.5cm

Lifespan:

Around 1–2 years+ with proper care

Green Rili Shrimp Water Parameters

Shrimp are very sensitive to water quality and must only be added to fully cycled aquariums to ensure survival.

Temperature: 18–26°C / 65–78°F

pH: 6.5–8.0

GH: 4–8

KH: 3–15 (optimal 2–4)

TDS: 150–250 ppm

Tank Size:

Minimum 20 litres, although larger aquariums provide greater stability and encourage stronger colony growth.

Behaviour and Temperament:

  • Peaceful and completely non-aggressive

  • Constantly grazing on surfaces throughout the aquarium

  • Thrive when kept in groups

  • Suitable with other peaceful nano fish and invertebrates

Diet:

Omnivorous: algae, biofilm, blanched vegetables, shrimp pellets and occasional protein-rich foods.

We feed all of our shrimp in store using the Shrimp Pro Foods range, and all shrimp sold by us are already accustomed to these foods.

Breeding:

  • Straightforward to breed in freshwater aquariums

  • Females carry eggs for approximately 3–4 weeks

  • Young hatch as fully formed miniature shrimp requiring no special care

  • For the best colouration, Green Rili Shrimp should be bred within their own colour line rather than mixed with other Neocaridina varieties.

Aquascaping & Environment:

Green Rili Shrimp are ideal for planted aquariums, Nature Aquariums and dedicated shrimp colonies. Their vibrant green markings contrast beautifully against dark substrates, wood and stone, while complementing lush aquatic plants.

Dense planting, mosses such as Fissidens or Java Moss, and epiphytic plants like Bucephalandra and Anubias provide excellent grazing surfaces and safe hiding places for shrimplets. A mature aquarium rich in biofilm will help ensure a healthy, thriving colony.

Delivery & Customer Responsibility

Please read before ordering.

1. Suitable Tank Conditions

It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that their aquarium is fully cycled and that water parameters are suitable for the species purchased before placing an order.

We cannot accept liability for losses resulting from unsuitable tank conditions, incorrect water parameters, or improper acclimation. Shrimp are sensitive invertebrates and require stable, appropriate environments to thrive.

2. Dispatch & Delivery Schedule

All shrimp and snails are dispatched on Mondays only for Tuesday delivery (pre-1pm service) to minimise time in transit.

Please ensure someone is available to receive the delivery. Prompt acceptance of live animals significantly improves survival rates and reduces stress.

We cannot accept responsibility for delays, missed deliveries, or losses where no one is available to receive the parcel on the scheduled delivery day.

Orders placed after 11am on a Monday will be dispatched the following Monday.

3. Tracking Information

Tracking numbers are not issued automatically.

If required, tracking details can be requested by phone or email after 1pm on Monday, once shipments have been processed and collected.

4. Dead on Arrival (DOA) Policy

In the rare event of a shrimp or snail arriving deceased, this must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

Clear photographic evidence must be provided showing the deceased livestock inside the original, unopened bag. This is required for us to assess and process any claim.

Reports made after 24 hours, or without photographic proof in the unopened bag, cannot be considered.

We only deliver livestock on a Tuesday – order before 11am on Monday.

Please research before purchasing live livestock. - Watch our video on Neocaridina Shrimp Care before ordering.
