The Seaside brookweed, also known as Samolus valerandi, is a small aquarium plant found in Europe, Asia, and North America. It thrives in damp or occasionally flooded, salty locations near the sea coast, as well as in freshwater. When submerged, it forms a light green leaf rosette and can grow to around 10-15 cm in height and 10-20 cm in width. In an aquarium, it grows slowly and prefers strong lighting, a nutrient-rich substrate, and cooler temperatures below 26°C. It can tolerate a salt concentration of 30 mg/litre.
