ADA Amazonia PRO 9L – Premium Aquarium Aqua Soil

ADA Amazonia PRO 9L is a premium aquarium substrate developed for planted aquariums and nature-style aquascapes. Building on ADA's renowned Amazonia range, Amazonia PRO is designed to provide an excellent foundation for healthy aquatic plant growth while creating a natural-looking substrate bed.

Ideal for both professional aquascapers and planted aquarium enthusiasts, Amazonia PRO combines the benefits of a nutrient-rich aqua soil with the attractive appearance and planting flexibility expected from ADA substrates.

Designed for Healthy Aquatic Plant Growth

ADA Amazonia PRO provides a suitable growing environment for a wide range of aquatic plants, from carpeting species to demanding stem plants.

Its granular structure allows plant roots to establish within the substrate, making it particularly well suited to densely planted aquariums where healthy root development is essential.

Natural Appearance for Aquascaping

The dark, earthy appearance of Amazonia PRO creates a beautiful contrast against vibrant green plants, colourful stem plants, aquarium wood and decorative rocks.

Its natural-looking granules make it an excellent choice for Nature Aquarium, Iwagumi, Dutch-style and other planted aquascapes, providing a clean and cohesive foundation for your layout.

How to Use

Spread ADA Amazonia PRO directly across the base of your aquarium, creating a gentle slope from front to back to add depth to your aquascape.

Plant your aquatic plants directly into the soil using aquascaping tweezers, then fill the aquarium slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate.

As with other nutrient-rich aqua soils, monitor water parameters during the initial aquarium setup and carry out appropriate water changes while the aquarium establishes.

ADA Amazonia PRO vs Amazonia Ver.2 – What's the Difference?

Both ADA Amazonia PRO and Amazonia Ver.2 are premium aqua soils designed to support healthy aquatic plant growth, but they offer slightly different benefits.

ADA Amazonia PRO is enriched with nitrogen and phosphate, providing greater nutrient availability to encourage strong plant growth, particularly during the early stages of an aquascape. It's an excellent choice for heavily planted aquariums and more demanding aquatic plants.

ADA Amazonia Ver.2 offers a more controlled approach to nutrients, using the included Amazonia Supplement to enrich the substrate where needed. This makes it particularly suitable for beginners and aquascapers looking for easier initial aquarium management.

Can they be used together? Yes! For the benefits of both soils, ADA's European distributor recommends placing Amazonia PRO underneath a 1–2cm layer of Amazonia Ver.2. This provides a nutrient-rich base while helping to reduce the risk of algae during the initial setup.

Which should you choose?

  • Amazonia PRO: Best for nutrient-demanding plants and heavily planted aquascapes.
  • Amazonia Ver.2: Best for easier initial management and flexible nutrient supplementation.
  • Both together: An excellent option for combining nutrient availability with a more manageable initial setup.
