Potted Aquarium Plants | Live Aquatic Plants
Potted aquarium plants are a convenient and reliable way to add healthy, established plants to your aquarium. Grown in specialist nurseries, these plants are typically cultivated emersed (out of water), resulting in strong root systems and consistent quality before they reach your tank. This category includes a wide range of species suitable for foreground, midground, and background planting, along with different difficulty levels from beginner-friendly species to more advanced plants. Whether you’re creating a simple low-maintenance setup or a detailed aquascape with strong growth and colour, potted plants offer flexibility for almost any layout.
Before planting, plants should be removed from the pot and carefully separated from the rockwool. Gently rinsing the roots helps remove any remaining fibres and allows for easier planting and better establishment in the substrate. Once planted, these species will transition to their submerged form, adapting to aquarium conditions and producing new growth over time. Check out our blog on Potted Plants vs Tissue Culture Plants
