Tropica Bucephalandra Kedagang Aquarium Plant Potted

Bucephalandra ‘Kedagang’ is a distinctive and easy-to-grow Bucephalandra variety originating from Borneo. Known for its long, narrow dark green leaves, contrasting white dots and reddish rhizome, it is an excellent choice for adding fine detail, texture and subtle colour to planted aquariums.

Appearance
Kedagang produces long, narrow dark green leaves approximately 1–2cm wide and up to 6cm long. The foliage is decorated with distinctive small white dots, while the rhizome can develop attractive reddish tones.

When grown submerged, the leaves may also develop a beautiful metallic blue sheen, particularly under good lighting, giving this variety additional depth and character.

Lighting & Growth
Bucephalandra Kedagang thrives in low to medium lighting conditions and does not require CO₂ injection.

It has a slow growth rate and is well suited to both low-tech and high-tech planted aquariums. CO₂ supplementation is optional but can encourage stronger, healthier growth and help the plant establish more quickly.

How to Use
Bucephalandra Kedagang is a rhizome plant and should not have its rhizome buried in the substrate. Instead, attach it to aquarium rocks, driftwood or other hardscape using aquarium-safe glue or thread. Over time, its roots will naturally anchor the plant in place.

  • Can develop a beautiful metallic blue sheen when submerged

  • Contrasting reddish rhizome adds additional colour

  • Perfect for attaching to aquarium wood and rock

Tip: Avoid burying the rhizome, as this can cause it to rot. Position Kedagang where its leaves catch the aquarium lighting to make the most of its subtle metallic colouration.
