Echinodorus Tanzende feuerder
Echinodorus ‘Tanzende Feuerfeder’ is a unique and striking sword plant, celebrated for its long, narrow leaves that display a dramatic colour transition: new growth emerges maroon with darker maroon splashes, gradually turning deep green as the leaves mature. This hybrid, developed by Thomas Kaliebe in Germany, named “Dancing Fire Feather” . It’s a fast-growing plant capable of achieving a large, bold presence in aquariums, making it ideal as a midground or background focal point.
How to Use in the Aquarium
Perfect for midground or background placement, E. ‘Tanzende Feuerfeder’ adds vertical structure and rich coloration to planted tanks. Its striking foliage contrasts beautifully with green carpeting plants, mosses, or other stem plants. The plant’s fast growth and size make it suitable for showcase aquascapes and nature-style layouts, where it can create depth and movement in the scene.
Maintenance
This plant is vigorous and moderately easy to maintain, thriving in nutrient-rich substrates and under medium to high lighting.
Regular pruning of older leaves and flower stalks helps maintain a tidy appearance and encourages continued growth
Emersed Growth
Echinodorus ‘Tanzende Feuerfeder’ performs equally well emersed, forming a robust, fast-growing plant with the same maroon-to-green leaf transition. It produces branched inflorescences with large, delicate white flowers, and plantlets can form quickly, making it a rewarding choice for paludariums and humid setups. Submerged or emersed, this hybrid demonstrates its prolific flowering nature and strong, durable growth.
