Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentata)
Amano shrimp also known as Japonica or Yamato Shrimp, were introduced to the aquarium hobby by Takashi Amano in the early 1980's
Amano shrimp are one of the best algae eaters in the aquarium and the good news is they will handle a wide range of water parameters. We love these shrimp for aquascape aquariums as not only do they help keep things clean, they are also almost see through and blend into their surroundings well keeping focus on the beautiful aquascape.
They are a large species reaching 4-6 cms. You may see your amano carrying eggs but they will not hatch in freshwater aquariums as they would need to migrate to brackish waters to do so.
